Watershed Science Program

About the Program

Our watershed science program is funded through the Natural Resource Damage Program (NRDP). This program serves students throughout the Clark Fork Watershed. This program is focused on teaching about the past and ongoing restoration and remediation of the Clark Fork Watershed.

Our curriculum is place-based and unique to each school within our watershed. We spend five total days in each classroom with the first four of those days being instructional days and the final day being a field trip day. We serve 5th – 8th-grade as well as high school students.

Field Trips

Students are taken to a restored site on Silver Bow Creek or to the Milltown Dam. Field trips include assessing aquatic macroinvertebrates, riparian habitat, and water quality. Local experts participate in our field trips as well, allowing students to interact with scientists.
