What is the Clark Fork Watershed?
The Clark Fork River and its tributaries drain most of western Montana. The upper river and headwaters were heavily impacted by wastes from over a century of mining. Today, the area is the largest Superfund environmental clean-up site in the nation.

CFWEP Upcoming Events
-May 28: Deadline for public comments on Anaconda area Superfund sites.
-June 1: CFWEP Field Trip with Deer Lodge School.
-June 4-6: Butte: The Original film showings at the Motherlode Theatre in Butte.

About Us > Support CFWEP

CFWEP is a non-profit education group, with major funding from the State of Montana Natural Resource Damage Program (NRDP) and a ESEA, Title II Part B Mathematics and Science Partnership Grant through the Montana Office of Public Instruction (OPI). Other funding and support comes from Montana Tech of The University of Montana, the Environmental Protection Agency, Butte-Silver Bow County, the Montana Department of Environmental Quality, and from the donations of community members like you.

Click on the Donate Now link above (on the right side of the screen) to donate to CFWEP through the Montana Tech Foundation. All proceeds support Clark Fork Watershed Education Program programs and services. Thank you for supporting place-based education in western Montana!

Donating automatically makes you a member of CFWEP. Members receive the CFWEP Restoration & Education Newsletter, as well as regular updates regarding public events, volunteer opportunities, and the ongoing restoration of the Clark Fork Basin.

You do not have to donate to become a member. Simply complete the "E-Newsletter Sign Up" box at the left of your screen to automatically become a member of CFWEP.

Donations help CFWEP fund:

  • Transportation for field trips and field science research projects
  • Supplies and equipment students use in the field
  • Publications and materials to support teachers and students in the classroom and in the field, and to keep the public informed about Clark Fork issues
  • Curriculum and lesson plan development
  • Support for our dedicated volunteers, such as our annual Volunteer Appreciation BBQ
  • New projects and program development to ensure that western Montana students receive high-quality science education
  • And much more!
